Gerald G. Armstrong age 88, of Alliance, died at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Aultman Hospital.
He was born May 7, 1922, in Inglewood, New Jersey to Roy and Lillian (Rosenstengel) Armstrong.
Gerald graduated high school in Erie, Pennsylvania. He was employed at Taylorcraft Aviation and Goodyear in Akron before his retirement.
A member of the Limaville Lions Club, he was former zoning inspector for Lexington Township and former Boy Scout Leader for many many years. He was a skilled woodworker and built several boats. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed boating, gardening; and volunteering for eleven years at the Huston Brumbaugh Nature Center. He had been a member of the Civil Air Patrol during World War II.
Gerald is survived by one brother, Robert Armstrong; one niece; one nephew; one great-niece and one great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary A. (Anderson) Armstrong, whom he married August 1943, and who died October 17, 2008; and a brother, Roy Armstrong.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 23, 2010, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Pam Bruno officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
